The professionals at Essential Dialogues, LLC value all aspects of their clients’ identities including their sexual and gender identities. Often along with the stressors and challenges that most people face, members of the LGBT and Queer/Questioning communities are exposed to additional sources of stress (many times traumatic stress) because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identities. This can often lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, and shame, self worth issues, isolation, religious and spiritual concerns, etc.
We are deeply committed to offering identity-affirming counseling services and believe that a culturally competent approach is crucial to the success of any type of therapy. We are able to help with range of issues specific to LGBT and Queer/Questioning individuals and their loved ones (teenagers, adolescents, and adults) including:
- The process of coming-out
- Learning that a loved one identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning
- Spirituality/Faith-based concerns
- Same-sex parenting
