Depression
Depression can manifest itself in our lives in many ways including feeling sad, blue, hopeless, unmotivated, or “down in the dumps.” Most people have experienced these feelings at some point in their lives for short periods with varying intensities. Sometimes, however, these feelings last much longer and have enough intensity to adversely impact our everyday lives, goals, and aspirations. Depression can change or distort the way you see yourself, your life, and those around you. You might find it difficult to imagine that any problem or situation can be solved in a positive way. When depression is severe one might even have thoughts of death or suicide*.

We will work together with you to address not only the symptoms of your depression but also the possible underlying emotional factors contributing to it. Anxiety
Are you tense much of the time? Do you feel a sense of apprehension and fear that feels excessive? Does your mind spin with unreasonable worry? Are you unable to sleep because your thoughts won’t slow down? Do you struggle in groups of people and fear you will have a panic attack?
If you answered to yes to one or more of these questions you will likely benefit from psychotherapy. People often describe anxiety as a feeling of tension, nervousness, panic, and/or boundless worry. Limited anxiety in small doses can be helpful when we are working with a deadline on a project, or when we have to be awake and alert while driving at night. However, excessive and prolonged anxiety can have a significant negative impact on our bodies and lives. Physical symptoms of anxiety can include a racing heart, excessive sweating, shortness of breath, and shakiness. Anxiety can become ruminative and even lead to paralyzing fear.
The therapists at Essential Dialogues LLC will work with you to create a collaborative and individualized plan to address your anxiety. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a technique that is available to you should you and your therapist decide it is a good fit to resolve your struggles. Among other things, your therapy will likely include building healthy coping skills while also working on possible underlying emotional contributors to your current anxiety and stress.
